The Great Wall (Changcheng), totaling more than 12,000 kilometers, is the image of China throughout the world. It is the only man-made object visible from the moon, and as one of the Eight Wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China lives up to its reputation.

In Beijing, there are Mutianyu Section, Jinshanling Section, Juyongguan Section, Simatai Section, Huanghuacheng Section, Qinglongxia Section, Gubeikou Section and etc. Of all these section, the Great Wall at Simatai Section is most renowned for its original shape and condition. Simatai Great Wall is also called the best of all the Walls.

All these sections of the Great Wall in Beijing have their own unique features: Mutianyu Great Wall is the most beautiful and green section of the Great Wall. Badaling Great Wall was the best preserved part of the Ming Great Wall. Simatai & Jinshanling Great Wall are remarkable place for sightseeing, hiking and exploration with its fantastic scenery & precious photography. At Juyongguan Section, visitors can have a look the Number One Gate under the Sky. Huanghuacheng Section and Qinglongxia Section are also called Water Great Wall for visitors can find lake and river beside the Wall.

Hiking or viewing the Great Wall is a must for Beijing first-time visitors. One daunting question facing each visitor is which part of the Great Wall I should climb?

Opposite to the wrong conception that the Wall is a roller-coaster of masonry running in an unbroken line across north China, the Great Wall of China doesn't form a continuous line - the Wall is in bits, same as the Wall around Beijing. Mutianyu Great Wall:85 km/way. A vast area of trees makes it the greenest and most beautiful scenery of the Great Wall. The exciting toboggan is available there. Many street vendors

Jinshanling Great Wall:150 km/way, wild, rugged, steep and hazardous, without disturbance from other visitors, an ideal place for photo taking, hiking and camping, but very far, 3-3.5 hours drive for each way.

Simatai Great Wall:140 km/way, very similar to Jinshanling Great Wall, closed in the year of 2010, Reopening time unknown.

Juyongguan Great Wall: 60 km/way,    closest section, heavily renovated, steep, with a tower over the gate,      no cable car available.

Badaling Great Wall:    80 km/way, famous for its altitude, width and breathtaking view of the wall winding,      but very crowded and busy both in the wall and on the road.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall:    85 km/way, also called Water Great Wall. It takes more time to reach this place by car.

Qinglongxia Great Wall: 100 km/way,   mountainous road and the impressive lake, difficult to reach the place

Gubeikou Great Wall:   110 km/way, broken, original, risky,  little bit dangerous for the first-time visitors to Beijing.
